Institutional Library Cards

Thank you for your interest in applying for an Institutional Library Card from the Eastham Public Library, a member of the CLAMS (Cape Libraries Automated Materials Sharing) network.  CLAMS serves most libraries on Cape Cod and the Islands and provides users with convenient and consistent access to member libraries both from terminals inside the libraries or from their remote computers via the internet.

Institutional Cards are intended for schools, extended care facilities, daycare centers, or similar organizations that intend to take responsibility for materials borrowed by multiple users to meet organizational needs. Items checked out to the Institution Card are for organizational use only.

See below for the Institutional Card Application Form.

An Institutional Card provides members of the organization with the following services:

  • Searching for items at any of the CLAMS libraries,
  • Borrowing and requesting library materials,
  • Returning borrowed library materials to any member library,
  • Accessing the account for due dates, hold updates, fines, and lists of borrowed items,
  • Creating reading history lists, and
  • Downloading free eBooks and audiobooks.

To apply for an Institutional Card, an application must be completed and must include a designated contact person. In addition to the completed form, we require a letter from the head of the organization, on official letterhead, stating that the organization agrees to be responsible for all materials borrowed on the card, for fines incurred, as well as for lost or damaged materials.

Once the library director receives the completed application and the letter, an Institutional Card account will be established, and the physical card will be mailed to the organization.

Authorized users must present the physical library card or a current institutional ID at checkout to borrow library materials from the Eastham Public Library.  A 50-item maximum is allowed for Institutional Cards. Institutional Cards expire one (1) year from the issue date and require an updated application and letter upon renewal.
